Study Notes

As you are making your resolutions for 2016, consider a commitment to the Cross. It is tempting to think that once we have become a Christian we don't need to think about the Cross, in reality, we need to dwell on the implications of the Cross for daily life. Jesus gave us this memorial so that we would keep Him and His work for us in view...

  1. When we wonder if we are loved...we need to get the Cross in view. See Romans 5:8.
  2. When we think our sins are too much or too bad for God to forgive...we need to get the Cross in view. See Colossians 2:13-14.
  3. When we forget who we are...we need to get the Cross in view. See 2 Corinthians 2:14.
  4. When we are struggling with forgiveness...we need to get the Cross in view. See Ephesians 4:32.
  5. When we are fighting temptation...we need to get the Cross in view. See Romans 6 and Galatians 5:24.
  6. When we feel like a fool for believing the gospel...we need to get the Cross in view. See 1 Corinthians 1:18.
  7. When we feel like we can't live up to anyone's expectations (including our own)...we need to get the Cross in view. See Ephesians 2:8-9.
  8. When we think we are alone in the process of sanctification...we need to get the Cross in view. See Galatians 2:20.
  9. When we feel like we are "pretty big deals"...we need to get the Cross in view. See Philippians 2:5-8.
  10. When we wonder if we are apprentices of Christ...we need to get the Cross in view. See Matthew 16:24-27.

Conclusion

Living in view of the cross is the way to life and the way to heaven. It takes more than a glance! It often requires a "stare."
