Times of Refreshing

When someone says, "I need a little R and R," they usually mean "Rest and Relaxation." That is certainly a good idea and the Lord delights to give rest to those He loves. But, there is another R and R that the apprentice of Jesus should consider, "Repentance and Refreshment." We don't normally put those words together but Peter did and we'll see why...and hopefully we'll have continued appreciation for how this works this morning...and throughout the week!

    Prompters to repentance...(John MacArthur)
    • Truth
    • Sorrow
    • God's goodness
    • Fear of judgment
  2. The First Step
    • Choosing Christ as Savior AND Teacher for Life
      It is sin that is in the way of a better life and a better destination. Jesus is the One who leads us down a better path to a better destination.
  3. We Need Seasons of Refreshing
    The implication is that there are seasons that are not that refreshing! But, the promise of God for life is mentioned often.
  4. Refreshment Requires Means
    Refreshment awaits but refreshment requires repentance and repentance requires means.
    1. ​​Gratitude
    2. Word
    3. Obedience
    4. Prayer
    5. Community

Conclusion

You need refreshement.
You want refreshment.
Refreshment is available.
Refreshment requires repentance.
Repentance requires means.
