There sure has been a lot of speculation about who the Anti-Christ might be. Since I grew up in a church that focused on a dispensational approach to Scripture, the futurist model of interpretation is familiar to me. With that paradigm there were many ideas about who the Beast might be. Politicians of other countries were the leading candidates; mainly the leaders from Russia and China. We don’t have to figure out who the Anti-Christ is but there are several items we should keep in mind. First, we should remember that the “spirit of Anti-Christ” has been with us for a long time. Because we long for security, prosperity and blessings we’ll be tempted to follow those who promise such things. Our Ultimate Source of security, prosperity and blessing is found in Jesus alone. Second, futurist or not, we must remember that we are in a spiritual battle right now. The enemy’s principal weapons are deceit, anger, unforgiveness and temptations. Let’s be sure to make full use of the armor of God and put on each piece with prayer.
