A witness is someone or something that provides evidence or testimony. In a criminal trial, an eyewitness helps to make a case for or against a particular person or people. As Christians, we can give evidence about what God has done in our lives, sometimes we refer to that as “witnessing.” While people can provide evidence through verbal testimony sometimes objects are given as evidence to prove a point. God has been faithful since the creation of man to provide a testimony, a witness or evidence of Himself through a variety of ways. For example, creation is proof of His eternal power and divine nature. Another example would be the Bible and the many books that attest to its veracity. God has also worked through the nation of Israel and through the church. And Jesus is not only the Light, He has given light to every person. We are using the futurist model in our interpretation of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, and we have been learning about all the ways that God will continue to make Himself and His ways known through the end of time. This week we’ll take a look at Two Witnesses, we don’t know who they are, but we know what they do—and why.
