Terrorists. Shootings. Bombings. Events like that are in the news more often than we would like to hear about. And, while one of those events is more than we want to happen, the effect is profound. Words like “evil,” “mayhem,” and “unspeakable,” are often used in the descriptions of those terrible ordeals. What if there were 50 or 100 or 500 of those events in one day? There is day coming when it will be worse than that. We could take away all the guns, knives and baseball bats and it will still happen. We are currently enjoying God’s restraint of evil in this world. There is a day coming when He will allow evil to be unleashed and the word “unprecedented” will be an understatement. As bad as things can be right now, it will get worse. The point of the escalation will be to give people a real taste of what life is like without God. Some think we do not need Him. Some want to live without Him. Righteousness, peace and joy is what we want, and it is not available apart from life with God. History is on a trajectory. The future on earth is not pretty. Let’s run to the Lamb today.
