There must be a market for vengeance. Many movies and books center on this theme. It’s interesting that people often want justice or vengeance for themselves, but when God warns of His vengeance, people get squeamish. For ourselves, we want mercy, for others we want justice. What does this say about us? Does it trouble you that God said, “Vengeance is Mine.” The Revelation of Jesus Christ makes it clear that judgment is coming upon the wicked during the end times. God will extend offers of mercy, but many will refuse His offer. There will be no doubt about where the judgment comes from, people will know that it is “the wrath of the Lamb.” But knowing it is the wrath of the Lamb and not the wrath of a Lion still won’t convince them to repent and receive His mercy. What does this say about us? Of course, the good news is that we don’t have to worry about this. God demonstrated His love toward us in this, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. And, whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. Thank Him today for His great mercy and rest in His care. If you are a child of God, you have a good, good Father.
