A country singer has noted in one of his many songs that he has “friends in low places.” As believers in Jesus Christ, it’s worth noting that we have a Friend in high places. This coming weekend is Ascension Sunday. 40 days after He left the tomb, Jesus Christ ascended to the right hand of the Throne of God and He is seated there. He reigns over all. He is the King and this universe is His Kingdom. We can come to Him with confidence, and He is praying for us. Mercy, grace and help is available to us in our times of need. I recently read the testimony of someone who wrote, “I pray whenever I am in trouble and I am in trouble a lot, so I pray a lot!” So true! We may not have access to our government officials. We may not be able to make appointments as soon as we would like them. But, if we want to go straight to the Real Top, we can call on the Father through the Lord Jesus Christ and He hears us! So, tell all those friends of yours in low places that they are not alone with themselves, there is a Friend waiting in a High Place.
