“Worship”

Numerous things may come to mind when we see the word worship. Some may think of a Sunday church service. Others may think of a concert or of the music portion of a Sunday service. If you attend Calvary, hopefully you remember that worship is one of our core values (behaviors) that aid us in facilitating our mission to develop followers of Jesus for life. The description of our core value adds, “loving and honoring God through surrender and obedience.” When we understand who God is, it should be easy to love and honor Him. But, if we’re honest, sometimes it is very hard. When we start to comprehend how great God’s love is for us, surrender and obedience should be natural but sometimes it’s a fight. There are several reasons for this conflict within us all rooted in our brokenness. The distractions of this world, the deceptions of the enemy and our own self-will are the major categories that cause us to lose our focus on God’s majesty, beauty and worth. The good news is, God is not distracted. All is well in Heaven. On Sunday, we plan to take a glimpse into the sacred space that the apostle John was privileged to see…hopefully it will be a catalyst to worship.
