“Trials and Temptations?”

One of our older hymns asks the question, “Have we trials and temptations, is there trouble anywhere?” Umm, yes! The answer doesn’t require a lot of thought. Trials come in many forms and often discourage us. Temptations are sneaky and deceive us into thinking that life can be found through means that are actually harmful. This life is fraught with both trials and temptations, and they are often coming at us at the same time. What should we do with these struggles as followers of Jesus? The little epistle of James gives insight into the source of trials and temptations as well as a safe path forward. Until we arrive safely on the Other Side, we are going to struggle with trials and temptations. We can improve the way we face them but our “progress” as humans will never remove the reality of these struggles. The Word of God has a prescription for us that results in blessing. Read James 1 ahead of time and join us on Sunday for some helpful encouragement.
