Wednesday Recap: Hot Topics
During the year we give students an opportunity to ask questions about God, the Bible, and society with the desire to see what the Word of God has to say about it. Last night we went through eight different questions, and if you were not able to attend, I will put the questions below so you can search the Bible as well for the answers.
For our parents/guardians, I would encourage you to talk to you students, rather they attended or not, about these questions and questions like them. Students want to know they are heard and that their thoughts and idea are valid. When held up to Biblical Truths, we can show them how to grow on their journey.
Here are the questions we looked at last night.
- I am a new Christian. I am struggling with how much I should spend in my Bible and how I do that. Where do I start in the Bible?
- When was heaven (the 3rd heaven) built? - This question most likely comes from 2 Corinthians 12:2-4
- Do you think there's seasons in heaven? What if you get sick of hot or cold weather?
- Would it be loud in heaven when there are a lot of saved people?
- Is it wrong to say things that aren't true when acting or joking?
- At What point does a coping mechanism become an idol?
- How is addiction a sin?
- How do I know God is real?
These are great questions. Last night we opened God's Word to see what it had to say about each question. The students were engaged with listening, and I'm sure they had a lot to talk about in small group.
Continue to cultivate a curious environment at home, where your student feels like it's a good place to ask questions like this. And, when you don't know an answer; that is okay. Don't make one up, simply go through the journey with them. You can always ask a trusted friend who knows the Bible.
