Wednesday Recap

This week at Thrive we had Karen from Alpha Family Services come in and share about the ministries Alpha provides to families in our area. Alpha is a ministry Calvary has supported for quite a long time, and has a heart in helping moms, dads and families through unexpended pregnancy.

I would encourage you to connect with Alpha if you have specific questions or to find out more about the ministry, but yesterday Karen shared that Alpha helps counsel moms and dads (who are in the picture), provide resources, clothes, diapers, etc. to help the family until the child is five years old. They are also in the process of cultivating a program for the men in those situations to learn how to step up and step into the life of the baby and mom.

Another opportunity Alpha is starting is a home for single pregnant women who need a place to stay until they get their feet on the ground. This is in the pre-building phase and could use prayer and financial gifts.

Typically, Alpha offers free ultrasounds, but since their Sonographer has stepped away for a full-time job, they are not able to offer ultrasounds in Greenville. Please pray that someone will step up and fill that role.

According to Caring Network's website, "The PreBorn! network reported that in 2023, 81.5% of women who initially felt unsure about continuing their pregnancy chose to continue after receiving an ultrasound and counseling."

Mission Offering Challenge

Our mission's offering this year at Thrive has been going to Alpha and Continental Baptist. We had raised over $750 since Christmas, and I have challenged our group to see if we can reach $1,000 by May 6. If we do, we will have a dunk tank at our end-of-the-year party where teens can dunk Pastor Rob and possibly their small group leaders.
