Wednesday Recap
James, the half-brother of Jesus is attributed to be the author of the book of James. He is writing to the 12 tribes that have been scattered abroad due to persecution, but his writings are as applicable to us today. They are a blend of Jesus' teaching, especially in the Sermon on the Mount, and a Proverb style wisdom writing.
Trying to outline James can be tricky and if you asked 10 people to outline it, you might end up with 17 outlines. So, here is an outline to help us on our journey from the book of James.
1. Trials and temptations are part of our walk with Jesus (James 1)
2. We need to live out our faith (James 2)
3. We need to use wisdom in our life (James 3)
4. Trust God for our provisions (James 4)
5. Live humbly (James 5)
The book is relatively a short read. If you are looking for somewhere to read in the Bible, I would encourage you to read through James this week or next and highlight truths that you can work on in your life.
