Wednesday Recap
We finished up our series "Rooted" this week.
The theme was "Share". As we
are grafted into the life system of Jesus Christ through salvation and
repentance, we should see growth (Those were the first three lessons). As we
grow in Christ, sharing the Good News with others is a next step. But how do we
do that? When Jesus sent the
twelve out to proclaim the Kingdom of God, He told them, "Behold, I am
sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and
innocent as doves." I don't know about you, but I have seen many guys with
blowhorns outside of stadiums telling everyone they are a sinner and going to
hell. I've even had them say that to my face and I know where I'm going when I
die and it's not hell.
What Jesus is saying here, is that we are going out to a
world that wants to devour us. But, go. When you go, be patient in your going
like the serpent. Be wise and wait for the right time to speak to others about
the Good News of the Gospel. When you do, be innocent as doves, not smacking
them over the head, but gentle truth. We
then turned to 1 Corinthians 15:1-7 where Paul reminds us of the Good News. 1.
We have a sin problem. 2. Jesus died on our behalf for our sin problem. 3. He
didn't stay dead but rose again. 4. He appeared to many, so there is proof that
He did what is said. With the Good
News that Jesus died on our behalf, we ought to be proclaiming it to everyone.
But how? There are many tools and tactics. The key is to be obedient and share
the Truth of the Gospel.
If you are interested in some tools, I'll list them here,
you can look them up online, or if you'd like, you can e-mail me and I'll send
you what I have.

On a different not: Each year we take on a mission's
project at Thrive. Any "profit" we make on snacks, pop bottle returns
and offerings we take at Thrive, it goes to assist our ministry partners. This
year we are partnering with Alpha Family Services and Continental Baptist
Missions. Between these two ministries, we are able to help families with
unplanned pregnancies and support interns to help plant churches. As of two
weeks ago, we have raised over $600 to assist with these two ministries. If you
are willing and able to help, I have a challenge to our youth group to bring
that number up to $1,000 by our Christmas Party on December 17. I believe we
can. Please join us in praying about it and give if you can.
