Have you ever asked that question? Once you saw “it” you couldn’t believe you didn’t see “it” before. I drive to the church building many times each week and once in a while I’ll say to somebody, “How long has that _______ been there?” They will respond, “Oh, for a couple of years.” Then I will say, “How did I miss that?”

You are looking at my favorite piece of art. It is a painting by Rembrandt entitled “The Return of the Prodigal Son”. You’ll have to give it some artistic license. It didn’t happen like this. The embrace of the Father was on a road. The older son didn’t hear about it until later. I doubt there was a man sitting next to him in a chair! But Rembrandt is painting ideas. A picture is worth a thousand words.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is historical reality. Many people have set out to disprove it and have ended up converting to Christianity. A person can choose not to believe it but that won’t make the truth of the event go away. Jesus really lived. He really died. He was really buried. He really rose from the dead.

Sometimes we say this when someone we know does something that seems a little crazy or maybe even out of character. I have a brother that has run a couple of marathons, I won’t be surprised if he runs another one. However, if the other brother ran a distance race, I would definitely say, “He did what?!?”

We’ve been doing life together for over 40 years. If you know who is writing this blog, you know who “her” is. We had a ceremony in 1981 that established a covenant between us. We don’t have a ceremony every year, but we eat together often.
